Spooky Ghost Time

[Kenji]

Kenji walked through the streets of Evanscente City and noticed the multiple ghost pokemon floating around as well as the dark pokemon making their way across the rooftops. The city itself was odd in the way of architecture, many of the buildings were very Gothic in construction. Dark colors, pointy and sharp features, tall towers, all these things are what made up the buildings of the city. Kenji pulled his jacket closer, Kinda spooky out here... Kenji muttered to himself as he picked up the pace. He wasn't sprinting or anything, but most people would call it a fast jog.

Kenji saw the gym up ahead, one of the few buildings that hadn't adapted to the Gothic style of the city, and sighed in relief. He was almost there. As he "jogged" Kenji wondered what type of gym this would be. He had noticed a lot of dark and ghost type pokemon floating about the city, that could be it. Ghost/Dark pokemon would be tough for his team, Zoroark could take out the ghosts, but he didn't have much for the Dark types other than Monferno's mach punch.

Kenji walked into the gym, glass doors sliding open automatically. He looked around and groaned, the outside had been deceiving, the inside was decorated to be just as creepy as the buildings out side, I hate my life... Kenji grumbled before looking around and calling, Helllllloooooo?!?!!? Anyone here?!?!

[Shiz]

"Yo!" You could hear a boy call out from nearby -- and you turned to find said boy sitting on top of the bleachers at the opposing side of the gym. They seemed to be fading in and out even as he sat on them; disorienting, to say the least. "Are you here to challenge us?" A girl asked softly behind you, and you couldn't help but wonder where the hell she came from, and how the fuck she snuck up behind you without your noticing. At any rate, the boy jumped off of the bleachers, landing elegantly before he ventured over towards you and slung his arm around your shoulders. He seemed to be the rowdy type -- who was probably all about fun, games, and battling more than anything. And girls, of course.

His sister, it was obvious to you that she was in fact his sister because of the apparent aesthetic similarities between the two: and you couldn't help but note that they were twins... His sister crossed her arms before her chest before pouting slightly. "We keep getting small fry who can't handle double battles... Hopefully you're not as weak as the last few." She said, sighing slightly. "We'll kick your ass either way though!" The boy who still had his arm around your neck grinned widely, before bouncing back and running energetically to the opposite side of the gym. "What are ya waitin' for!?" He called out to the girl, who gasped in surprise before rushing after him.

[Kenji]

Kenji was a little confused by the whole thing, the bleachers made his brain hurt when he looked at them, so he looked away quickly. Suddenly there was a voice behind him and he jumped forward, turning to look for the voice as a young girl emerged from the shadows, Holy crap, where the hell did you come from? Kenji asked surprised, and suddenly there was an arm around him, Jesus, you guys are creepy...uh...no offense by that. It sounded worse than I meant. The twins seemed nice enough, but still a little creepy as to how they moved around the gym so fast and quietly.

Suddenly they were both at the other end of the gym and Kenji looked over surprised, Uh...oh right, gym battle. Ya I'm here to challenge you guys. He said as he retrieved two pokeballs from his bag and enlarged them, Go get us another gym badge Zoroark and Flygon! Kenji called as the pokeballs burst open revealing Zoroark and Flygon in a flash of white.

[Shiz]

"Sweet deal. Alright, I'll start with this guy." The brother said, locking his hands behind his neck as he paced back and forth impatiently. He sighed, before calling out his first pokemon; Spiritomb. The terrifying creature popped out of it's capsule, crying out readily as it looked forward to the battle to come. It seemed to be the type that loves fighting, to the point in which it would be difficult to knock out. Then again, most pokemon trained by a gym leader has a certain lack of understanding of the word 'faint'.

The girl seemed a bit more bold about the whole ordeal than you had initially imagined her to be: her fists were clenched and her eyes narrowed, leaking her intent to kill, as she called out her first participant. A Shandera appeared mysteriously behind her, floating ominously with a blank empty yellow stare. It's flames were a vibrant violet, waving gently in a soothing manner, much opposed to it's trainer's demeanor.

It was apparent that Spiritomb and Shandera made a good team -- and that the two rarely got to fight alongside one another. The anticipation was really getting to everyone in the room at this point... The lights dimmed; the room was suddenly dark, and it was incredibly difficult to see. "I suppose I should go over what this gym expects of it's challengers." You hear the girl call out to you from the shadows. The brother snickers in the background, as Spiritomb's low growl echoes throughout the arena.

"This isn't just a dark type gym. There are various other factors coming into play during this battle, so you'll need more than a hit and run strategy to defeat us. Team work is number one -- raw power comes later. Well, you'll figure it out on your own soon enough." The girl sighed, uncrossing her arms before flipping her long obsidian hair over her narrow shoulder. "Evil Eye." She muttered quietly to Shandera, it's eyes suddenly glowing a darker and far more disturbing hue. The sight would shake it's opponents to the core, to the point where seeing those eyes would literally hurt. Rather than aiming at any one pokemon in particular, the eye glowed to the extent in which both foes would see it clearly.

"Spiritomb too!" The boy, far less subtle about the entire sneaky battle thing called out -- "Hypnosis!" Spiritomb hummed deeply, before closing it's lunatic green eyes... Hypnosis would take effect on Flygon soon, and then the ghosts would strike, destroying their opponents from the inside out. If the mind loses control and shatters, then so does the physical being themselves. Spiritomb seemed to be getting pumped, smiling widely as it's eyes were clearly twitching, even whilst closed.

[Kenji]

Kenji listened carefully as the two twins took turns talking, wow that was a lot of t's for one thought. Kenji thought it was actually a little creepy, they seemed to take turns talking, like they knew what the other was going to say. Suddenly he tuned back in only to notice the chandelier ghost thing launching an attack at his pokemon. Kenji nor his pokemon had been ready for the attack and were caught off guard. The level difference between the pokemon made it so Flygon barely felt a thing. As for Zoroark, ghost types didn't really do much to the dark type pokemon, so she shook it off.

Kenji saw Spiritomb get ready for an attack and ordered immediately, Zoroark get on Flygon, Flygon take to the sky. The two pokemon nodded and Flygon shot to the sky, Zoroark on his back. If the gym leaders wanted team work, they'd get it. Kenji decided to focus on one pokemon, get rid of it and then move onto the other, take them down one at a time and quickly. Flygon use faint attack to get in close, Zoroark, you know what to do. Zoroark nodded, Kenji's team had been a team for so long, that they often already understood what each other was thinking without any words being said.

Suddenly Flygon and Zoroark disappeared, they reappeared in front of Spiritomb and Zoroark used taunt, putting up a claw in a...well a rude gesture. Then Zoroark jumped off as Flygon finished his faint attack and charged towards Spiritomb, it wouldn't miss thanks to the attacks secondary effect. Zoroark had back flipped off of Flygon and landed behind Shandera. She let out a war cry before slashing downwards with her night slash attack.

The twins took a look at the trainer's strategies they were both surprised by the amazing commands he gave to his pokemon. They could not believe that the trainer was using such an outstanding combination against them. The Flygon and the Zoroark were working so good together that they had no words to say at all. The trainer they got to face was not any ordinary trainer. He had some great skill they could not doubt.

However, they would not let this go so easily. They were not Gym Leaders for nothing. Evan, who saw Eve's pokemon getting targeted by the Night Slash pointed towards Zoroark with a determined face and said "Spiritomb! Move in front of it and use Shadow Ball to protect Chendelier (Shandera)!". Afterwards, Evan's pokemon moved as fast as possible in front of it, and tried to use Shadow Ball after taking the Night Slash attack. However, Flygon appeared and hit it with its Faint Attack, an attack that never missed its target, sending Spiritomb towards the wall of the gym after taking such an incredible amount of damage. It could still stand but it was obvious to everyone that it would fall with one more attack.

After Spiritomb protect Chandelier from Zoroark, Eve smiled. She knew that her brother would not leave her like that. She was pretty sure that she would protect her Chandelier. After seeing that Spiritomb did so, she pointed towards Kenji's pokemon and said "Time to show that Spiritomb's protection did not go to a waste! Use Confuse Ray on them!". As soon as she spoke her wards, Chandelier's eyes started glowing as it launched a beam that would cause confusion to its targets if it hit... The battle had just started... Even if the twins had a disadvantage due to the incredible strength of Kenji's pokemon they knew that their strategies were capable of causing defeat to the challenger...

[Kenji]

Kenji smiled, Nice job guys, now let's wr-SHIT look out! He called to his pokemon as he noticed Chandelier's eyes flash with confuse ray. Zoroark saw this before Flygon and pushed the unsuspecting dragon type out of the way. Flygon was pushed to the side as Zoroark took the attack head on. Her body went lip, and it looked like she had been shot in the head when the confuse ray hit her brain and messed with her mind.

Zoroark looked around, very confused and disoriented, she stumbled to the left before picking herself back up and standing on two wobbly legs. Flygon frowned, that should have been him, not poor Zoroark. Ok Flygon, let's wrap this up. Kenji called and Flygon's usual clam face took on a very serious look. Give it a taste of its own medicine! Kenji commanded and Flygon let loose a high pitched scream at Chandelier, using supersonic. He then disappeared and flew swiftly towards Spiritomb, hoping to end its battling time.

Meanwhile, Kenji let Zoroak just sit back, and watch the battle. He didn't dare give her commands and watch her hurt herself, that wouldn't be fair, and quite frankly just wrong. Zoroark, just chill out for a minute, let Flygon wrap this up. You did great. Kenji offered consoling words to his confused pokemon.

[Maximillion]

As the battle was getting more and more intense, the male twin picked up Spiritomb's pokeball and returned it back at its pokeball so that it would not be affected by the effects of Taunt, as well as rest a little bit. Then, he threw another pokeball on the ground and said "Come on Dusclops! Time to show him the power of ghosts! Intercept Flygon's Supersonic with your Shadow Sneak to protect Chandelier!".

As soon as Dusclops listened to the command darkness started surrounding its hand, forming an orb of darkness. Then, the beacon pokemon disappeared for a second and appeared next to Flygon while charging its fist to strike it on its head and protect Chandelier.

At the same time, as she knew what her brother would do, Eve did not panic and decided to focus on striking both her opponents with her Chandelier while it was being protected. He pointed towards the top of the building with her left hand and said "Chandelier... Use your Bursting Flame to burn those pokemon to ashes! Go!". And Chandelier did so, as it always obeyed to its trainer.

[Kenji]

Kenji had made up his mind and decided to take Zoroark out so she could recover from the little problem of confusion. Kenji pulled out a pokeball and called out Marshtomp, Ok girl, go help Flygon! Kenji said and Marshtomp nodded as she ran on all fours towards Flygon and the pokemon he was fighting. Meanwhile Flygon had used Dragon Claw to meet fists with Dusclop's fist and cancel the attack. He then followed up by lunging in with a powerful crunch attack. Flygon's long neck extended out and fast like a snake striking as he bit down towards the ghost pokemon's right shoulder.

Meanwhile, Marshtomp saw that Chandelier was planning to launch a powerful fire attack at Flygon, and slid infront of the ground/dragon type pokemon, protecting her friend. She let loose a water gun at the flames, knocking them back and away from her and flygon. She then scooped up some mud and hurled it at Shandera, using Mud Bomb.

[Maximillion]

As expected because of the difference in strength, Dusclops was completely overpowered by the Dragon Claw attack and the Crunch was more than enough to defeat due to the fact that it was super effective against it. The pokemon fell on the ground unconscious but it had served its purpose; it managed to protect Chandelier. Evan smiled and said "Good job, Dusclops... Now, go Spiritomb and use Hypnosis towards Marshtomp!"

Immediately after coming out of its pokeball and not affected by the Taunt anymore, the pokemon used Hypnosis towards Marshtomp hoping to make it fall asleep and protect Chandelier once more. However, on top of that, Eve did something that the twins had never done before in the battle. She said "Chandelier dodge and use Shadow Ball on Marshtomp!" and the ghost type pokemon did so. For the first time in the battle the two pokemon tagged against a single pokemon... The climax of the battle was getting more and more intense. The combinations of the two Gym Leaders were outstanding for sure.

[Kenji]

Marshtomp was hit by the hypnosis and fell to the ground out cold, suddenly the shadow ball struck it in the side and sent poor Marshtomp flying. She was still conscious and could fight if she woke up, but not by much. Damn, Marshtomp you gotta wake up girl. Kenji said to the sleeping Marshtomp at his feet. Meanwhile, Flygon charged Spiritomb with another faint attack, attempting to end the annoying pokemon. There wasn't much Kenji could do other than watch and hope Flygon could get this under control. He looked at Marshtomp, waiting and hoping she would wake up soon.

The twins smiled as they saw that their strategy worked. While keeping the smile on their face's they Evan and Eve pointed towards Flygon and Marshtomp respectively.

Evan said with a determined voice "Spiritomb! Strike Flygon with your Faint Attack!" and Spiritomb moved towards it, using the unavoidable move to the strong dragon/ground type pokemon in an attempt to cause some damage to it.

At the same time as her brother, Eve said with a cheerful voice "Now that Marshtomp is unconscious time to burn them! My cute Chandelier! Use your Burning Flame to strike both Flygon and Marshtomp!". And the pokemon did so, hoping that this time its attack would work... The tables had started turning...

[Kenji]

Flygon and Spiritomb collided, but rather than knocking into each other, Flygon grabbed Spiritomb by the base of its body, and held it in front of himself. This way, the flame from Chandelier's attack would hit Spiritomb and not Flygon. Unfortunately, Marshtomp was hit, however a fire attack against a Marshtomp doesn't exactly do much. So Marshtomp was currently clinging to a thread of life, and still sleeping. Flygon jabbed Spiritomb with a dragon claw, figuring that would be it for the already heavily damaged ghost/dark type and dropped it to the ground.

Flygon looked to Kenji for a command, but Kenji just nodded, knowing Flygon could handle this on his own. Flygon nodded back, understanding and charged forward with a faint attack towards the ghost/fire type.

[Maximillion]

Despite the fact that Spiritomb had taken a big amount of damage, it still managed to stand as it healed while it was in the pokeball. However, it could barely manage to move now. Evan was worried about him and tried to recall him but Spiritomb would not listen. It was determined to help at defeating one pokemon at least. Evan agreed with its terms, knowing that it would fall on the ground soon. He said "Use Shadow Ball towards Flygon before it hits Chandelier!" and it did so, before passing out and leavind Chandelier alone in the battlefield for the round.

At the same time, Eve, who was afraid due to the fact that Spiritomb could not do anything, she said "Use your Shadow Ball on Flygon as well!" and Chandelier did in an attempt to defeat the dragon before it hit it with the unavoidable Faint Attack. The twins hoped that two of strongest ghost type move would be enough to stop Flygon from its rampage...

[Kenji]

Flygon took both shadow balls, but continued his attack towards Chandelier, crashing into the fire/ghost type and most likely knocking it out. Flygon flew back, away from the pokemon and landed next to the sleeping Marshtomp. The level difference was what kept him still fighting, with 20+ levels separating the pokemon, their attacks didn't hurt nearly as much as they usually would. Still, they were wearing Flygon down little by little, and Kenji had serious doubt he would be able to finish off the pokemon that would take Spiritomb's place.

Marshtomp was still blissfully asleep, and Kenji made his decision. He pulled out his pokemon's pokeballs and recalled them both. Zoroark would probably be healed from the confuse ray by now, but Kenji decided to use a different pokemon. Taking Flygon and Marshtomp's places were Monferno and Metagross. Hey guys, ready to win a gym battle? Kenji said and the two pokemon nodded eagerly. Well they only have four, maybe three pokemon left, so let's wrap this up. Kenji waited to see what the new pokemon they would be battling would be and if the fire/ghost made it out of Flygon's attack.

[Maximillion]

Evan took a deep breath as he looked at his pokemon that passed out after launching the Shadow Ball towards Flygon. At least it caused some damage to it. That unstoppable pokemon's rampage seemed to have come to an end... For now... However, Kenji still had some pokemon left while he had one of his weakest pokemon left; his Houndoor. He threw Houndoor's pokeball on the ground and said "Come out Houndoor! I need your assistance!". Houndoor had just entered the battle!

At the same time, Eve returned Chandelier. The pokemon was almost knocked out and its body was completely injured after getting hit by that super effective move. However, its will to fight for its trainer made it able to not get knocked out unlike any other Chandelier that would get hit by an attack like that... Eve thanked Chandelier for the good battle it put and said "Wow... That was good, but it's about time we show you the real power of our strategies! Go Burungeru!" as she threw Burungeru's pokeball on the ground and made the water/ghost type pokemon appear.

Afterwards the Evan and Eve said at the same time, respectively "Use Fire Spin on Monferno" and "Strike Metagross with Ominous Wind!". The Fire Spin surrounded Monferno and trapped it inside, preventing it Kenji from switching it and Burungeru's attack headed towards Metagross in order to cause it some damage...The tables were about to change...

[Kenji]

Kenji pulled out his pokedex and scanned the giant, floating water balloon, Damn that thing is ugly... He muttered as the data came up, Water type, eh? Sorry Metagross, you're sitting this one out for now. Metagross nodded, knowing his trainer wouldn't switch out unless it was for a good reason. Kenji recalled Metagross as Ominous Wind began, and threw Electivire onto the field. Electivire braced itself against the eerie wind and stood strong.

Nice to see ya Electivire. Kenji said, and Electivire nodded back. Kenji looked at Monferno and sighed, Monferno wasn't really being bothered by the actual attack at all, it was just frustrating that he was trapped for the next three turns or so. Ok guys, let's get things started, Monferno hit Houndour with a mach punch. Electivire throw up a light screen for yourself and Monferno and then pop that water balloon with a shock wave. The both nodded and took off, following their orders.

Monfenro disappeared in the blink of an eye and appeared on Houndour's left side, a solid punch thrown to the dog's left rib cage. Electivire used light screen to protect Monferno and himself from any sp. attks that might come their way. He then put his two tails together, and a massive spark of electricity shot forth, headed straight for Burungeru, and there was no way to dodge.

[Maximillion]

Eve smiled as she took a look at Kenji who commanded his pokemon to go with the Mach Punch attack towards Houndoor. She pointed towards Monferno with her right hand and said "Burungeru! Get in the front to defend it!". In an instant, the water/ghost type pokemon started moving towards Monferno. However, something weird was going. Burungeru was moving much faster than before and looked much more determined as well. Eve, who understood what was happening, said "Hahaha. That's what I wanted... Ominous Wind is a weak attack... However, now that my Burungeru's stats got increased, it can match your pokemon!". Unfortunately for Kenji, the move's side effects started activating. Burungeru's attack, defense, sp. atk, sp. defence as well as speed got increased...

After defending Houndoor from Monferno's attack Evan smiled. He was happy to see that his sister protected his pokemon. He kept that smile on his face and said "It's our turn now Houndoor! Protect Burungeru!". Power up and burn him with Ember!". As Electivire was using the Thunder that was heading for Burungeru, Houndour used Ember on itself, activating its flash fire ability and echancing his fire strenght. Then, it launched another ember towards Electivire, hoping that it would stop the Thunder from striking Burungeru. At least, even if the attack passed from its ember, it would be much weaker than it normally would.

At the same time, Even said "Use Bubblebeam on Monferno, now!" taking advantage of the chance that Monferno was right next to her pokemon, as it used Mach Punch on it before.

[Kenji]

Electivire's shockwave collided with the ember and exploded, some electricity broke through, but not enough to do anything. Electivire saw the bubblebeam headed for Monferno and used a shockwave on himself. His motordrive ability kicked in and increased the electric pokemon's already impressive speed stat, so that it was now faster than the floating water balloon. Electivire disappeared, using quick attack and landed between Monferno and Burugeru, taking the bubblebeam instead of Monferno.

Monferno looked up at Electivire and nodded in thanks before cringing, the fire spin was hurting a little bit, not enough to be a major problem, but it was still annoying. Monferno disappeared again, before appearing above Houndour, both fists together as he smashed Houndour's face into the ground. Electivire looked at Burungeru and touched his tails to the pokemon, launching a shockwave, that was going to hurt.

[[Auto hit for both Monferno and Electivire]]

Eve and Evan looked at their pokemon that got both hit by the attacks of Electivire and Monferno. Burungeru took some damage from the Shockwave, but its great defence stats that were echanced by the ominous wind were enough to make it endure two more of these attacks. As Burungeru was the only hope in the battle, the gym leaders relied on it. Evan said "Time to stop that Electivire, Houndoor! Burn it! Use Ember on it!". At the same time, Eve said "You, too, Burungeru! Strike Electivire with your Bubblebeam!" and the two pokemon launched their attacks from both sides, hitting Electivire endlessly. The Gym Leaders would not let themselves lose so easily to Kenji, after all...

[Kenji]

Kenji smiled as both of his pokemon's attacks hit. Monferno and Electivire were a force to be reckoned with, they had fought together numerous times and were able to fight in sync. Electivire took both attacks, but he still had his light screen move up. Both ember and bubblebeam were special attacks, meaning light screen absorbed a solid amount of the attacks damage before they reached Electivire. Electivire cringed as he braced himself from the attacks, but he didn't back down. Before the dust and smoke even cleared, a shockwave shot through from close range, headed straight for Burungeru yet again.

Monferno had watched the whole thing, and was still standing next to Houndour who seemingly forgot Monferno was still there. The fire monkey smiled, time to neuter this dog. Monferno disappeared and reappeared several times, launching super effective mach punch after mach punch at the fire/dark dog pokemon. Each time he struck from a different place, making it nearly impossible to track his movements. It had been three turns since Fire Spin started, it was nearly gone now, and Monferno was loving it.

[Maximillion]

As Burungeru was being targeted, Evan, who knew that the only pokemon that could bring the twins into an advantage was Burungeru, did everything he could to protect it. He said "Get in front of it Houndoor!" and the dark/fire type dog did, so taking the damage instead.

At the same time, Eve, who saw through her brother's movements said "Damn it Evan! There was no need to do that! Whatever... Burungeru! Protect Houndoor from Monferno by getting in front of the way!". The water type pokemon, did like before. In an instant, it moved in front of the Mach Punch, blocking the attack for Houndoor. Then, it listened to its trainer that commanded "Now, strike with Bubblebeam!" and it used the water type move against it. As it was right next to it, Monferno was hit, taking the damage... However, Burungeru started getting tired...

[Kenji]

Monferno was hit and knocked back, he was seriously hurting, this wasn't good. Light Screen had saved him, the sp. defense wall had stopped bubblebeam, a special attack. Monferno cringed, luckily fire spin had ended, but he still wasn't looking too good. Considering the amount of attacks that damn Houndour must have taken, there was no chance he could be standing for much longer. Electivire looked at Houdnour and launched a swift attack from his right hand while aiming a shock wave towards Burungeru with his left hand. Monferno had done his part, it was time for Electivire to cover for his fire monkey friend.

Meanwhile, Kenji recalled Monferno who was barely hanging on, and tossed out Zoroark. Zoroark had recovered from her confusion and was ready to kick some gym leader ass. Zoroark, wait for the right moment to strike and then move in to help Electivire with a faint attack. Zoroark nodded and waited for Electivire to launch his attacks so Zoroark wouldn't get in the way. The illusion pokemon then used her ability and turned into a perfect replica of Houndour. She charged in with a faint attack against the over sized water balloon, and landed back down next to the real Houndour. There would be no way for Burungeru to tell the two apart, it would have to risk attacking both of them to hit Zoroark.

[Maximillion]

The strategy of the trainer was smart indeed but what he did not think was that the twins were thinking the same way and there was no way for Eve to confuse her brother's pokemon with a replica. She said "Do you think we will fall for a trick like that? We are twins! We think the same way and we know which pokemon belongs to who! Use Ominous Wind on Zoroark, Burungeru!" and the water type pokemon did so, aiming for the real Zoroark. Although it was pretty damaged now by the Faint Attack and the Shockwave that hit it, it still had some strength due to the previous stat boost.

At the same time, the Evan said "Houndoor! Power up yourself once more and strike Electivire with Ember! It has taken much damage, so it cannot survive for too long!" and the pokemon did so, hoping that it would defeat the electric type pokemon.

[Kenji]

Zoroark, fight through the attack and finish that thing with a night slash! Kenji ordered and Zoroark jumped through the wind, which didn't do too much damage considering it was a ghost move. The houndour changed back into Zoroark as it changed. Zoroark lashed out with night slash, and to make sure water/ghost pokemon would be down for good, followed up with Foul Play. Meanwhile, Electivire had taken some decent damage, but not enough for an ember to end it for him. Still, why get hit by an attack when you can dodge it? Electivire was there for a second, and then gone in the next.

He appeared on the left of Houndour as the ember attack shot through the space where he had been only a second ago. Electivire smiled and followed up with another swift.
