[Training]
Mordecai sighed to himself as he continued to walk throughout the canyon, bored out of his mind. He was tired of searching for new Pokémon, new partners. Torchic and Seedot were both weak, he had to get them into shape. He sat down, closing his eyes. He had to think of a new training process. Ten minutes passed and there was nothing. He opened his eyes looking around. In front of him stood an odd boy, around the ages of thirteen or twelve. He had black hair, blue eyes and wore a long white colored shirt that came down to his knees. The kid wore skinny, black jeans with red mid-tops. His hair was spiked up, he looked like one of those anime characters that you see screaming and shooting beams at each other. Mordecai stood up, raising his eyebrows at the same time. “Erhm… Hi?”
The kid smiled and waved. Mordecai scratched his head, looking around. “Can I uh… Help you?” The kid nodded, “I’m Nick and I want to battle!” He exclaimed, somewhat suddenly. Mordecai smirked, “Alright… Let’s do this.”
They both took a couple of paces backwards before pulling out their pokeballs. Mordecai was planning to use Torchic, his best friend and the best Pokémon in his party at the time. Nick threw his pokeball to the ground, a small Chimchar exploding from the Pokeball. Mordecai could already tell this thing was a fire type. He pressed the small silver button located in the middle of his pokeball before throwing it into the sky. “Goooo Torchic!” He exclaimed.
Torchic came out from the pokeball; landing on the ground. It chirped once before waiting for its friend’s command. “Go Torchic, use Focus Energy and follow up with Scratch!” Torchic leapt up once before closing its eyes. He focused on the Chimchar’s body inside of his mind, pointing out multiple weak spots. Torchic opened his eyes, they were now fiery, he was ready to battle. He dashed forward, its feet digging into the ground. As he neared Chimchar Nick roared a command, “Dodge it and use Ember!” Chimchar leapt backward, opening it’s mouth. Suddenly a small flame shot forward toward the advancing Torchic. “Block it and continue on with the attack!” Mordecai exclaimed. Since Torchic was a fire type the attack would not do as much damage as it would normally do, especially if he blocked it. Torchic raised its wings, continuing on running. The flame slammed against Torchic’s body, making his skid across the ground backward somewhat. Torchic shook it off before continuing toward Chimchar. It pulled it’s wing backward before sending its claw toward its opponents eyes. Chimchar let out a yelp, falling to the ground and clutching its face. “Chimchar!” Nick roared, “Get up and use Scratch!” Mordecai smirked, “Use scratch twice while he’s down!” Torchic dashed forward, extending its talons so that they were aimed toward the Chimchar’s back. The bird-like Pokémon scratched twice, leaving two long scratches on the monkey Pokémon’s back. Chimchar screamed before standing up, “Quick! Use Scratch!” Nick exclaimed. Chimchar sent it’s palm toward Torchics face before leaving four red scratches on it’s head. Mordecai clenched his teeth, “Quick, use Scratch twice again! Finish him off!” He roared. The Chimchar was almost done, it was in the ‘red health’. Torchic sent it’s talons toward the pokemon, letting out a battle cry. Torchic fell backward, two red scars on its face. His eyes were closed and he was knocked out. “Good fight.” Mordecai said as he returned Torchic to it’s pokeball. Nick ran toward Chimchar, “This isn’t over!” Mordecai turned and began to walk away, “Yeah it is.”

[Training]Mordecai looked around, the Canyon was empty, there was nothing on the horizon but the sun. He closed his eyes, sighing as he did so. For some reason whenever he closed his eyes something always happened. He felt something hot hit against his face, it smelled sort of like sulfur. He coughed, opening his eyes at the same time. In front of him stood Nick, the kid had narrowed eyebrows and his face was red. “I said… This isn’t over!” He roared. Mordecai raised his eyebrow before taking a couple of steps backwards, “Do you want me to beat you again?” He asked. Nick grunted, “I caught a new pokemon F.Y.I!” The kid took a couple of steps backwards, sweat was rolling down his face. His shirt was drenched in perspiration; he had obviously been searching for Mordecai for quite some time. Nick reached inside of his pocket, pulling out a purple pokeball. “Hm…” Moredecai whispered. Nick threw the pokeball to the ground before taking a couple of steps backwards. “Lets go Seedot!” The pokeball opened, releasing Seedot. Mordecai smirked, “That it?” He asked. Nick nodded before clenching his fist, “Use your Torchic!” He roared. Mordecai shrugged before pulling out a pokeball. He spun it in his hands before moving his thumb toward the middle of the Pokeball. He pushed the silver button, watching as it expanded by five times it original size. Torchic appeared on the ground. It leapt up eagerly, it was ready to fight.
Mordecai cocked his head to the side before swallowing, the battle was now going to begin. “Go Torchic, use Focus Energy and follow up with Scratch!” Torchic dashed forward, its feet digging into the sand. As it ran it looked toward Seedot, pointing out weak spots on its body. It brought it’s wing backward before scratching toward the small pokemons eyes. This sent Seedot flying backwards, skidding across the dirt. It was an instant KO, apparently Nick had not bothered training Seedot. Mordecai sighed before folding his arms. “Use your Chimchar.” Nick grunted, returning the fallen Seedot to it’s pokeball. He reached into his pocket pulling out a red and white ball. He threw it into the air, “Go Chimchar!” He exclaimed. The Monkey Pokemon exploded from its containment unit, clenching its fists. The flame on its tail began to grow larger as he and Torchic stared at eachother. “Chimchar use Scratch!” Nick roared.
Mordecai quickly responded, “Go Torchic, dodge it and use scratch!” Torchic dashed forward before leaping to the side. Chimchar stumbled forward as his attack missed. Torchic spun around and brought his wing backward before slashing downward with his talon upon Chimchar’s back. A large red scar was left against his opponents back. It was a critical hit, Chimchar would never regain the fur that he had just lost, a scar would be there for the rest of its life. Blood began to drip down its fur. Nick gasped, “No! Chimchar spin around and use Ember!” The monkey-like pokemon obeyed and spun around. It opened its mouth and let out a small beam of fire. It hit Torchic directly in the face, sending him skidding against the ground. “Torchic… Are you okay?!” Torchic leapt up, his face was somewhat scorched but he would survive. “Then go and use scratch twice! Just like before!” Torchic dashed toward Chimchar, watching the fear grow in its eyes. Before he knew it Torchic was scratching furiously at his face. Chimchar was on the ground, unconscious and defeated. Nick growled, muttering a train of profanity that was surprising for his age. He returned Chimchar to it’s pokeball before turning around. “Come to the tournament north east of here… It starts in two days.” He said as he left.

Mordecai swallowed as he looked toward Torchic, “Alright. You already know were going that competition.” Torchic leapt up happily. Mordecai sighed, “But first you gotta learn a new attack. Remember Ember? Yeah I know you do, your face probably still hurts. Well your gonna’ learn it, right here and right now. Lets go.” Torchic ran up to Mordecai before leaping up. “Try to build the fire up within yourself and then let it all loose.” Torchic spun around, looking off into the distance. He closed his eyes, focusing on his insides. He tried to imagine letting a single blast of fire out of his mouth, just like Chimchar. He felt a warm sensation beginning to grow with his body. His heart rate increased as the sensation grew larger. It felt as if he was about to explode. He opened his eyes and mouth before it all came out. “Buuuuuuuurp!” That was all that was heard from the Pokemon known as Torchic.
Mordecai facepalmed, “Not a burp… Fire. Try again.” Torchic closed its eyes. The wind blew, ruffling its feathers. It felt the warm sensation beginning to grow once more. He imagined that inside of himself was a dark flame, waiting to be released. It began to twitch as the heat grew tremendously. It opened its mouth, a small flame shooting forward. It was nowhere as big as Chimchar’s ember. Mordecai nodded, “Nice try… But not good enough.”
Torchic let out a cry before looking around. This was the training that Mordecai wanted and he had to do it. He closed his eyes, feeling the warmth inside of himself. He didn’t twitch this time, he was used to the feeling now. It was as if he was in a warm spring, it was almost relaxing. He leapt up, feeling that it was now ready. He opened his mouth, a volley of small red flames shooting forward. “Nice!” Mordecai exclaimed.
“Now to find an opponent to test it on…” He looked around. He was in luck, in front of him stood a Cacnea. “Cac.” The small green pokemon uttered. Mordecai took a couple of steps backwards, “Quick! Use Focus Energy and follow up with Ember!” He roared. Torchic nodded before closing his eyes. He began to imagine Cacnea’s body in his mind before dashing forward. The heat began to build up in his chest, it was as if he was about to explode. Once he neared his opponent he opened his mouth, releasing a volley of flames toward the green pokemon. As the fire collided with the grass type, it let out a scream. It turned red as fire began to emit from the top of its head… It was on fire. The Cacnea tried to ignore the pain but was unsuccessful. The pain was filling his entire body as the flames raged on. Cacnea dashed forward in an attempt to ram into Torchic. “Dodge it and finish him off with Ember!” Mordecai exclaimed. Torchic leapt to the side, watching as Cacnea stumbled forward. He felt the heat beginning to build within his stomach. He leapt upward, the heat was too great for him to hold it any longer. It opened its beak, releasing a volley of flames toward the Cacnea, effectively ending the fight. Mordecai took a couple of steps backwards, aiming his pokeball toward Torchic. He returned his pokemon to it’s pokeball, “Your amazing.” He said before beginning to walk toward his camp-site. They needed a good nights rest for the battles to come.
Two days later Mordecai reached the site of the tournament. It was filled with contestants. Mordecai was informed that he would only have to fight two. They would use one pokemon of choice and the winner got the title of “Uberhaxboi.” Mordecai walked toward a woman who seemed to be fond of grass pokemon as she was surrounded by Butterfree. “Hi there!” The woman said. Mordecai nodded toward her, “’Sup?” She shrugged, “I’m just kinda ‘ for this contest. I’m Mary.” She said.
Mordecai smirked, “I’m Mordecai.” The two continued to conversate before the contest began. After a couple of battles it was Mordecai’s turn. He entered the arena and gasped at who his opponent was. None other than Nick. The annoying kid had Chimchar on his shoulder. Mordecai reached into his pocket, pulling out Torchic’s pokeball. He threw it into the air and let out a single command, “Lets do this Torchic!” He roared.
Torchic landed on the ground, looking toward Chimchar. Nick sent his pokemon to the ground, this was going to be an easy fight. Torchic learned a new move and he had already beat Chimchar before. “Go!” The announcer commanded. Mordecai pointed toward Chimchar before letting out a command, “Focus Energy then use Scratch!” He roared. Torchic dashed toward Chimchar, he focused on his opponents body, ignoring everything else around himself. He sent his talon toward Chimchar’s face. “Dodge it and use ember!” Nick roared. Chimchar was too slow. A large scar was left on his face as he staggered backwards. He opened his mouth and let a single flame go toward Torchic. “Counter it with ember and follow up with Scratch!” The bird-like pokemon leapt backward before opening it’s mouth and releasing a volley of fireballs toward Chimchar. It collided with his opponent’s own attack, resulting in a mass of dust. Torchic dashed forward, stabbing into his opponent’s stomach with it’s talon. Chimchar flew backwards, skidding out of the arena. “Ring out!” The announcer roared. Torchic leapt up, he had won. Mordecai congratulated Torchic before returning him to the pokeball. They had won the battle but not the war. They still had one more battle to win until they won the tournament, if they won at all.
The next battle was against the woman Mordecai had met earlier, Mary. They were both finalists apparently. She sent out a Shroomish and Mordecai sent out Torchic. “Lets do this.” Mordecai whispered. The woman clenched her fists, “Start this off with paralyze!” Shroomish dashed toward Torchic in an attempt to tackle him. If its attack had collided with Torchic then he would unfortunately be paralyzed. “Dodge it and use Ember!” Mordecai exclaimed. Torchic leapt to the side before building up the heat within himself. He felt the similar sensation from before. Until he felt as if he was going to explode he released a volley of small balls of flames toward Shroomish. The attack hit directly on his back. Shroomish turned red, flames emitting from its body. It was on fire. “Damn… Use Paralyze again!” Mordecai swallowed as Shroomish dashed toward Torchic, “Quick, use ember again!” He roared. Torchic opened it’s mouth, releasing another wave of fire balls toward his opponent. This was enough to end the battle. Mordecai had won the tournament and he was now known as, ‘Uberepicawesomepwnsomeboi!’ This was a moment he nor Torchic would forget. Mordecai returned his pokemon to it’s pokeball before returning to the canyon, ready for more training. He was planning getting a gym badge and that mean’t he had to train hi spokemon as hard as he could for as long as he could.
